MA in Leadership
My 36-credit Masters of Arts in Leadership prepares emerging and experienced professionals for today's demanding challenges of leadership in nonprofit or for-profit environments.
My name is Karen Glassford. I come from a long line of Adventists on my Dad's side and am the granddaughter of missionary parents and grandparents. I have titled this paper "The One Thing." This title came to me after reading the book, The One Thing, written by Gary Keller. He says we need to ask ourselves, “What’s the ONE Thing you can do…that by doing it, everything else would be easier or unnecessary?”(Keller & Papasan, 2013, p. 9) Having such a focus allows us to understand ourselves and shape our identity and destination. It brings clarity about who we are and what our calling is. It brings confidence to our mission. It diminishes worry about what others think about us and lessens the confusion caused by our emotions. (Scroggins, 2017) For me, my one thing is to live life with eternity in mind and influence as many for the kingdom of heaven as possible. This renders many other things unnecessary or a distraction from the purpose for which I exist.
